Jim Painting by Numbers
Here I am, aged about 10 years old, painting my first oil painting.
It's actually a painting-by-numbers scene of the Alps. I remember all the colours came in little numbered pots, and half of them were dried up before I could use them, but what amazed me were all the different shades of blue and violet used in the shadows on the snow.
How easy art was back then! A simple numbered outline drawing to fill in. If only painting were so easy now. In fact, I sometimes think it's been all down hill since I painted that Alpine scene...
...and I never finished it.
