This was a commission for a sailing enthusiast. It took a while to work out what kind of dinghies to use in the composition. Originally there was just going to be one sailor in each boat but then I decided there'd be more interaction with two. So now we have a pair of lovers and some other combinations.

It was always going to be a painting about the sails - big curving triangles - and I wanted them going in all directions. Well, four directions actually.

Which may not be very realistic but does make for a better pattern. It's just rather hard to work out which way the wind's blowing.
